2nd Attempt: Day 210. Encouragement from the road. Friday 22nd October 2010, 53.1km, Steps 63846 (10/22/2010)

After the slack attack of yesterday we got up early in the dark and left Dunmarra Caravan Park and drove north to yesterday’s finishing point to start today’s run. As it was only 14kms till Dunmarra D decided that she would run this distance before she had breakfast.
We pulled into Dunmarra just as the sun was rising to a great cooked brekkie of scrambled eggs and homemade bread.  D’s folks were staying behind in Dunmarra for a few hours to fundraise so after breakfast D hit the road once again we G and me as support. As the temperature was already in the 30’s at only 8.30am I decided that it was best that I spend the rest of the day in the air – condition car.
After about an hour of running a car pulled over, it was a couple who have been following us on the website and facebook and were interested in D’s progress. After a bit of a chat they gave D a huge hug and told her that it doesn’t matter how slow she runs, if she walks or crawls the distance, just make it home in 1 piece as a lot of Australia people are following her and are wishing her to achieve the task. D got a bit tear over this as sometimes she really struggles, as running isn’t a easy task for her now, the feet hurt everyday and the cancer has taken a huge toll on D’s body. Sometimes when I she her having a really tough day I wonder if she should be out here. But my D is determine to finish what she started and to help as many people as she can along the way. Today was very special as strangers it was really good today to have people telling D that what she is doing is making a difference to people’s lives.
With love and encouragement D ran on to our last stop of the day a truck parking bay 65kms north of Elliot. I went to bed a tad nervous as tomorrow we will be running into Elliot the scene of the crime, where D tripped over me and broke both her feet last year.   I think I will be banished to the car all day tomorrow.
Running with you soon.
