2nd Attempt: Day 206. Visit to the vets and a pink pub. Monday 18th October 2010, 46.2km, Steps 56769 (10/18/2010)

Last night D finally noticed that I had a little lump on my side, I had being trying to tell her for a few days but she just hadn’t been hearing me, sometimes D is quite a slack mum! The Running Pink team, D and I decided that since we were still close to Katherine that D’s folks would drive me to the vets today to get it checked out whilst Glyn and D continue down the road. I gave D a huge lick and she gave me a big cuddle and said “see you soon” and she drove back to last night GPS finishing spot whilst I went in the nice air-conditioned car to Katherine.

Fortunately the vet discovered that the lump I had was just a scratch so nothing to worry about, but told me to spot licking it, easy for her to say as it is a tad itchy. D’s folks and I drove back down the highway and when we taught up with D she was not far from Larrimah which was our destination for today so I hopped out and ran with her the last few kilometres.
On arrival at Larrimah we discovered that the pub was pink! I wondered if they had painted it in my honour and thought on seeing it that the Power of the Pink follows D and me wherever we go. D and the crew went for a wee drink and to see the zoo that is at the back of the pub. D told me they had all sorts of birds, baby Kangaroos and 3 Emus chicks, along with a crocodile. It was all very interesting and the owners of the pub do a great job in rescuing animals in need but I’m so glad I’m a free range dog; I don’t think that zooness would suite me, I just love my freedom too much and the big open road before me.
Running with you soon.
