2nd Attempt: Day 204. Making running snacks. Saturday 16th October 2010, 42.3km, Steps 52215 (10/16/2010)

Today we start week 30 of your second attempt. It’s a great feeling as we run down the Stuart Hwy to know that we have more days behind us than in front. It really has been a huge effort for D and the Running Pink team as we are coming up to 2 years since D and I started out from Hobart on this run around Australia and we haven’t seen our home since than.

As it had rained over night the start to our day was cool but as the day wore on the temperature really started to climb and at just over the marathon distance D decided to call it quits for the day.
We had been invited to stay at the Territory Manor Caravan Park, at Mataranka and as D really wanted a shower and we needed power we decided to drive the 14kms forward and do the kms into Mataranka in the morning. As Darryel had giving D a bag full of Darwin Mangos when she was up there and they were ripening quicker than we could all eat them it was decided since we had overnight power D and her mum would spend some time this afternoon peeling and slicing the mangos and place them in the dehydrator, as dried mango was one of D’s favourite snack foods on the run. It was a rather sticky job and quite a lot of the fresh mango seemed to pop into D’s mouth then in the dehydrator but they finally go the job done.
After this round of domestic food gathering D had a shower and we had dinner and all went to bed for an early start in the morning.
Running with you soon.
