2nd Attempt: Day 197. Running past history. Saturday 9th October 2010, 47.5km, Steps 59299 (10/9/2010)

Woke this morning in the dark and drove back to Manton Creek to began our days run, we weren’t long on the road when we were joined again by Darryel who ran with us till Coomalie Creek Rest Area where he presented some presents to D in the form of milk, mangos, chocolate and other goodies! D was touched as she was just happy that Darryel had taken the time to run with her over the last 5 days that this was an extra bonus so of course a little tear was shed.
After a huge hug or two we said goodbye to Darryel and started running again we hadn’t go far and the rain that had been promised for a week started but the down pour was all over in a blink of a eye. This according to the locals is what happens in the wet season in the top end and we began to realize there was more to the N. T. than just hot and we have now adopted a new motto “Welcome to the NT! Scorched one moment and drenched the next soon”.
At the 25km we came to the Magic Point, the turn off to Crater Lake Road, the point at which on the 4th Oct 2010 D became the 1st Female to run the entire distance around Australia. It seemed very strange to be running over this point when we started this epic run almost 2 years ago I would never had thought that when we became the 1st dog and the 1st female to run around Australia we would be still running after that day happened. But here we are still going and that’s because D wants to raise as much funds as possible for the NBCF and when she hits Melbourne she will be the 1st female to run and walk continuously around Australia. So as I ran past our history I thought that one day we will finally be home, we will finally stop running and than live a normal life again. Can’t wait!
Another 1.8kms down the road from our point in history we crossed another milestone our 9,000km for this journey. D worked it out that in a little over 200kms we will have run 20,000kms for the NBCF wow that’s a lot of paw sore if you ask me. To celebrate the 9000km mark D got out a new pair of Saucony shoes making them the 20th pair on our 20,000kms journey for breast cancer research.
D and I ran on in the rain/dry combo that the weather was giving us today until we reached Adelaide River Caravan Park where with no mum to cook dinner as D’s folks were still fundraising in Darwin D and Glyn decided to go out for dinner and I ended up with the lamb shank bones for dinner yum.
Running with you soon.
