2nd Attempt: Day 110. No rain and a day ahead. Wednesday 14th July 2010, 51.5km, Steps 60518  (7/14/2010)

Another clear morning I’ve got my paws crossed, hoping it’s another rain free day. I know the farmers need the rain, that’s OK they can have it tomorrow or better yet when we are no longer in the area.

D’s raced off this morning as she was in fine form and was feeling good to be in the sun shine after all that rain. As for myself I’m doing OK, as the first dog to run around Australia I have to keep an eye on my records, so I run with my pedometer to check my km’s and off course I never go anywhere without my trusty GPS Garmin dog watch. The problem I have is that I have four legs, so I run twice the distance, D runs. I hope she doesn’t think I’m cheating?
At about 14kms south of Geraldton D had morning tea and when she was ready again she grabbed some water, added a few snacks into her running bag and off she went. In the mean time the crew and I went forward into Geraldton as we needed to stock up on important supplies, my dog food and I guess they need some food for humans as well.
Due to D running up the Brand Hwy and not taking the coast detour we actually, despite the rain are officially a day ahead of schedule, therefore our meet and greets and fundraising appointments in Geraldton are not until tomorrow. With this in mind D could have stopped at Geraldton and had a low kilometres day but as she was running in fine form today she decided to keep going past Geraldton and run on tomorrow morning then drive back for tomorrow’s function.
After our shopping expedition we meet up and with D on the northern side of Geraldton and I ran on with her until we found a spot to camp on the side of the Highway and settled for the night. We were both happy runners today as for the first time in our journey we were ahead of schedule not behind which was is a great feeling.
Running with you soon.
Maggie (Director of Greeting)
