2nd Attempt: Day 102. A little mischief and interviews from the road. Tuesday 6th July 2010, 42.8km, Steps 43021 (7/6/2010)

We all got up early this morning and drove back to yesterday’s GPS point and started our run through the beautiful foggy Swan Valley wine region. We were not long on the road when all of a sudden I was very thirsty, I looked to see if D was carrying water but as it was early in the morning she wasn’t so I decided to scout around and see if there were any other sources of water available to drink. Just when I was getting a bit desperate for a drink a beautiful small lake with a grassy bank came into sight and I just went for it, diving straight off the bank at full speed and hitting the water with a shock it was very deep and very cold and I was wet from head to tail. D ran up to the lake to see if I was okay and to prove that I was I hopped out and had a great roll in the grass. Nothing like a cold morning swim to get one’s heart pumping.

After my swim we run up to our pink convoy as it was time for breakfast but because I was a soggy doggy I wasn’t allowed in Big Pink and was told to stay in Little Pink whilst everyone ate. That wasn’t really fair so in protest (and to be a little naughty) I decide to raid the rubbish bin in the van to see if there was anything I could eat in there, after all I was a little hungry after my morning run and swim.   The only problem was I made a bit of a mess and when Glyn returned to the van I tried to cover up my mischievous behaviour by sitting on the rubbish but I didn’t quite pull it off and was told off by Glyn.
As Glyn cleaned up D decided to get me away from the firing squad and we run off down the road. We were not long on the road when Ron who owns the local Gull Petrol Station pulled up and offered us showers and a free breakfast, we had already had breakfast, but D got a nice café latte. We left the service station and ran on up the Northern Highway but was stopped again by the paparazzi at the Brand Hwy junction a few clicks later we were back and running but only for a few minutes as D received a phone call from the Western Australian Times and we walked and talked as the interview was conducted. At this stage D was getting a little weary as we decided to pull into the nearest parking bay for the night. I climbed into my big pink Regent home and closed the door for the sleep.
Running with you soon.
