2nd Attempt: Day 98. Christmas in July. Friday 2nd July 2010, 35.8km, Steps 40509 (7/2/2010)

D was feeling a little better today but still a bit sore however she made good timing which was important as we had various meet/greet and fundraising appointments to attend today. We arrive into Mandurah on schedule but then got a little behind because we were held up by the paparazzi wanting to take photos of me from various angles.

I gave them my best poses and then D and I ran on to the Centro Shopping Centre where we met the Mayor Patti Greevey who gave us a donation from the council, various Mandurah Lions Club members including Brian who had organized tonight’s big fundraising dinner as well as members from the local Cancer Council Support Group and current cancer patients.
The paparazzi were there again snapping away at my every move so I was on my very best doggie behaviour and after much of the tongue and tail wagging D and I said our goodbyes and than ran onto the Timbertop Caravan Park where we set up for the night, had a shower and got glammed up to attend our fundraising dinner, the Mandurah Lions Club “Christmas in July” that Brian had specially arranged to help D and I with our cause.
Ho Ho Ho Santa said to me as I tucked into my fantastic Christmas dinner. D must have had a bit too much of the Christmas punch as she flirted with Santa whilst she sat on his knee. I wonder if she was asking him if she could be home for Christmas, I thought wish on D. As we sang chorals and ate our Christmas pudding I did start to think that the only thing missing from this Christmas in July dinner was the presents. Ah! The presents come after dinner and the singing, in the form of donation cheques from various lions groups around the Mandurah district who attended the dinner. It was a great night and the generosity of all was fantastic. Thanks all for your support and thanks to Brian for his special efforts.
Running with you soon.
