2nd Attempt: Day 86. Still sick. Sunday 20th June 2010, 56km, Steps 64487 (6/20/2010)

A cold and foggy morning, combined with a night of little sleep due to D’s cold,  kept D in bed until 1st light but as the day unfolded, a great running day was revealed to us. Clear blue skies, a small breeze, warmer temperatures with D’s cold and hills being the only obstacle. D was aiming to get as close to Albany as she could today, cold permitting, so we could make it on time for our fundraising appointment tomorrow so D keep a good pace from most the morning.

When we arrived at Wellstead for morning tea, someone who had seen D running on the side of the road had left $5.00 for her as a donation at the general store and the owner of the general store Rick also gave a very generous donation, which pleased D no end and help perk up her spirits somewhat.
As D’s had a bit of a fever she decided to have a wee sleep after morning tea and see how she feels about running more kms afterwards. D lay down under the warm doona for about 2 hours after which she woke up feeling a little brighter and decided to push on and do an afternoon running session.
Our  afternoons run was dominated by the Stirling Ranges, whose majestic blue grey silhouette cut dramatically into the pale blue sky that lay beyond. As the sun set D ran in front of the truck, into the dark until we managed to find a place to pull the truck and van off the road. Luckily we found a nice camping stop in the driveway to Koala Station 65kms from Albany, a great refuge from the Highway.
We fed D and I sent her straight to bed, hopefully she can get some over night rest as she has a huge day tomorrow if we are going to make our fundraising appointment in Albany on time.
Running with you soon.
