2nd Attempt: Day 84. A huge fundraiser and a special dedication. Friday 18th June 2010, 54.6km, Steps 62257 (6/18/2010)

A 55 km day lay ahead and we had to be in Jerramungup for the fundraiser, so it was a steady as you go, day on the road unfortunately D woke with a sore throat and a bit of a fever, we thing she caught a cold due to running in all the rain. But the starting of a cold didn’t stop my D and we reached the Jerramungup Caravan Park around 5pm then D had a quick shower, I put on my pink coat and shoes then off to the local sport complex.

We were greeted by over 100 people and in a sea of pink, all which wanted to hear D’s story and to meet me.   Lots of pats and some yummy roast chicken, and then the show began.
First there was an exhibition netball game with the local girl’s netball team playing the local boys football team which was very entertaining but at half time the real “talent” come out. Four of the local gentlemen had dressed up as pink fairies and they came out onto the floor dancing and waving their wands. It was a hoot, but poor things, I know what it’s like to be dressed in pink and paraded around like some kind of show pony.
The previous days running combined with the cold started to catch up with D, so we left the party just as the band was starting to play. We got D back to the pink caravan, gave her a hot toddy and sent her to bed.
The Jerramungup community raised over $5000 for our cause and this huge effort was coordinated by one women Kerrin Felesina who lost her sister, Kellie York on the 18th June 2008 to breast cancer. Deborah would like to dedicate today to the memory of Kellie who was love deeply not only by her family but by her community who showed their love tonight by raising so much for breast cancer research. We would also like to thank all for their wonderful welcome and great support. All my doggie love to you all.
Running with you soon.
