2nd Attempt: Day 56: Big day in hills, hills and more hills. Friday 21st May 2010, 61.3km, Steps 71792. (5/21/2010)

Due to having a late start yesterday and not getting the required kms in, what with the family visit and all D had a very early start this morning as she wanted to get some big kms to make up time/distance as we only have a certain amount of days to cross the Nullarbor before we are expected in Norseman for a fundraising dinner. It was looking like a tough day as the truckies informed us through the UHF radio that the road ahead was straight but no flat at all. In fact all day, all D did was run up one hill of 5kms long; run down the hill, then up another of 5kms long. Roads like this are tough on the legs so I decided very early to retire to the pink truck as I was having a bad hair day today and as I had a lot of time on my paws I composed a poem about my situation.

I’m in a knot around the bot,
I have a fading beauty spot,
The burs in my coat number quite a lot,
What’s a girl to do when she’s not looking so hot!

I really need D to give me a good brush but somehow with high kms and the hills I have Buckley’s and none chances of getting this. D ran on and on, up and down hills till we found a trucking bay about 50kms west of Yalata, which is the aboriginal conversation land, we have been running through today. Its beautiful country filled with pale blue grey salt bush and thin spindly gum trees making it rich in both colour and tone. I did have the brush ready for a good groom when D arrived at camp but D just fell short of the task, God’s she lazy sometimes, its most annoying.

That’s about all I really would like to say today. Goodbye

Disappointed Dog.
