2nd Attempt: Day 47: A dedication and a very strange stump. Wednesday 12th 2010, 50.7km, Steps 58640. (5/12/2010)

We left Minnipa at dawn this morning and headed down the road towards Poochera and to be honest not much happened. It was just another day of running through the dry dusty wheat belt of Eyre Peninsula. D and I are still running next to the pipeline on a dirt track next to the highway, D has banned me from running in front of her as I tend to drag my feet a bit and I am kicking up dust into D’s face, so we are running side by side like true companions.

We run into Poochera where we had lunch and Glyn filled the pink truck with diesel at the roadhouse. The lady at the roadhouse Julie Gill told us about losing her sister, Kate Moroney to breast cancer in February this year and how her sister bravely fought the disease for 15 years. Breast Cancer has no boundaries and even in this remote tiny community in the middle of the wheat belt people are effect and die as a result of BC and D and I would like to dedicate today’s kilometres in memory of Kate Moroney.
After lunch we turned off the Eyre Hwy and headed towards Streaky Bay onto a road of little traffic which made the afternoons run very pleasant and we stopped our day at Chandada Pioneer Park. D and I noticed a big new shiny shed next to the road and would you believe inside was Harry’s Stump, an 8.44 tonnes dead stump on its side. What? I really didn’t get why it was there it just doesn’t compute with my black and white logic to house a dead piece of tree. It’s a dog-gone mystery.
Running with you soon.
