2nd Attempt: Day 41: A solid running. Thursday 6th May 2010, 57km, Steps 67101. (5/6/2010)

With no schedule fundraising events today D and I could concentrate on just running with our target for the day being Iron Knob. With that idea in mind we had a little sleep in and left the Whyalla Foreshore Caravan Park this morning to start our running day. Now this caravan park is at the opposite end of the town to the road to Iron Knob and by the time we had run over 6 kilometres, 1 kilometre past our usual breakfast we were still running through suburbs and my tummy started to rumble, I looked at D and shouted “Hey when am I going to get something to eat?” and just then when I thought I would starve, the big Yellow Maggie sign appeared on the horizon. Of course it didn’t take long to convince D that was the spot for breakfast and I wagged my tail in agreement with her as she said “Let’s eat”.

After breakfast we finally found the road to Iron Knob and to our delight we discovered it was a very quite road, so traffic tension was reduced to a minimum and as the road stretched for miles in front of us, allowing us to see for miles in front of us, we spent the good part of the day running on the flat central part of the road only getting out of the way for the odd car or two.
D kept up a good steady as you go pace and at dusk we made it to Iron Knob. Even though we had no schedule arrival event we had an impromptu welcome to Iron Knob by the McLean Family with the kids running into town with D and me.   We run through the small community of Iron Knob and camped outside Lance’s Iron Knob Roadhouse after 57kms today I was very tired and after my VIP’s I went straight to bed.
Running with you soon.
Maggie (Director of Greeting)
