2nd Attempt: Day 39: Meeting a kindred spirit. Tuesday 4th May 2010, 40km, Steps 47961. (5/4/2010)

Due to the fundraising dinner last night D and the crew didn’t get to bed until late so they all had a little slept in to recoup some energy before hitting the road a bit late at 8am. This didn’t matter much as there were no scheduled fundraising stations or events today and it was just one of those days when D and I could run until we felt like stopping.

After D’s favourite breakfast, pancakes, we started running towards Whyalla when all of a sudden there is a voice behind us saying “Hello” we turned around and there was a man on his bike. It turned out to be Erden Eruc, a Seattle USA man who is trying to circumnavigate the world purely by human power, this means that he has to row a boat over water and walk/run or ride a bike over land. Erden set out from California in 2007 and is raising funds to assist poor communities in their struggle towards self-sufficiency by providing basic educational aid and resources, know-how and facilities. For more information about Erden and his journey or to make a contribution to his cause visit his website www.around-n-over.org.
Erden rode along side D and me and talked about positive things such as following your dreams, establishing a non – profit organization and how what we do helps others. The interesting thing is Erden and D talked about there GPS systems and what they use to monitor the record and when I looked at Erden GPS, I notice that Erden’s matched D’s!  I guess the three of us at that instant where all at the same place at the same time beaming our location around the world.  Does this mean they can track me for space?
As we got to the Iron Knob/Whyalla turn off D notice a bush track running parallel to the road that followed the water pipeline, as D loves to get off the hard road she decided to run along this track so we were ultra trail running for the rest of the day. It was a great way to end our running day and for the next 15kms we ran on with no traffic so I could be off my lead and the red dirt was very soft on my paws. I arrived into camp a very happy dog and ready for some VIP’s and bed.
Running with you soon.
