2nd Attempt: Day 32: Legs just not working but help is never far away. Tuesday 27th April 2010, 37.9km, Steps 45224. (4/27/2010)

Woke this morning to a torrid of rain and D decided that due to the first time in over a week we had no afternoon or evening fundraising commitments she would sit the rain out or at less wait until it developed into showers instead of a mini cyclone. After a few hours the rain subsided and we set off but not before D received a big hug from Garry and his son.  I started trotting off down the road at my usual pace.  I am always a little ahead of D, after all I am driven by 4 legs whilst she has only 2, so I have got into the habit of every 30 seconds or so looking back to see if D is still there behind me… well this morning to my horror I turned around and instead of being her usual few paces behind she seemed to be miles back, as quick as I could I turned around and ran back to her and asked what was wrong and she told me that her legs just felt like jello this morning but not to worry they’ll warm up soon.

We spent the morning with D running a bit sluggish and by morning tea time I could see she really needed the rest. Whilst stop for morning tea, D’s dad who had gone into Adelaide to pick up our water delivery from Nu Prue spring water arrived with 25 boxes of water that needed to be loaded into our truck and caravan so we had to scramble about trying to find gaps to put the water boxes in. Luckily for D at the same time Malcolm arrived with his massage table that he set up on the side of the road and gave D a massage to help get her legs moving. The magic of Malcolm’s hands really worked as afterwards D picked up the pace and in no time we arrived at Tarlee SA.
As there was no caravan park in Tarlee we asked the locals where we could camp and they said behind the Tarlee Institute, which had bins and a toilet block there, things we always love to see on the road for obvious reasons. Malcolm was still with us as he wanted to give D’s legs another rub down to help her through her stiffness but because it was too cold to do the massage outside Malcolm set up his table in the women’s toilets. We had a bit of a funny moment when a car pulled up and a lady came into the toilets wanting to use the facilities, she really did get a bit of a shock but we explain what we were doing and she wished us luck on our journey.
After the massage, Malcolm left to visit a friend back in Adelaide and Glyn, D and I had dinner and for the first time in a while we went to bed early.
Running with you soon.
