2nd Attempt: Day 3: The Rain Genie is back in town, Monday 29th March 2010, 36.7km Steps 44465 (3/29/2010)

As I lay my weary head down last night a huge storm hit my pink home and my last thought before exhaustion overtook me was “the rain genie is back in town”. As you might already know, if you have been followed our past journey’s whenever Deborah hits the road on one of her epic walks or runs she has always brought with her the rain sometimes even a cyclone or two has been known to follow her, hence she has become known as the Rain Genie.   So watch out Australia where there hasn’t been rain I will guarantee that when Deborah hits your part of the world it will fall.

The great thing about last nights rain was when we left Oatlands this morning heading north towards Ross last nights storm had gone and the day gradually warmed up to become the perfect weather for running, not too hot a little cloud cover and a slight tail wind.
After yesterday where D and I had put the major hills behind us the road ahead, whilst undulating was relatively straight forward with a few curves of course. This was good as I am feeling fairly wiped out from all those hills yesterday and couldn’t have faced another day of climbing. D seemed to be lagging with energy as well and seem to be travelling quite slowly it wasn’t till lunch time that we discovered the reason behind D’s slow pace; she had developed a rather nasty blister on her left foot. This meant the rest of the afternoon we were in shoe strategy mode, mixing and matching shoe orthodox etc to try and work out the best combination that would help with the blister.
After many experiments, a lot of pain and not much relief we eventually arrived in Ross.
The Ross River looked so inviting I decided to go for a swim. It was a bit muddier than I had expected so I turned slightly grey when I got back to the bank and D wouldn’t allow me into my pink home so I went under the caravan for a wee nap only to be woken by D at dusk to be given my VIP’S and to be tucked into bed.
Running with you soon
