Crew separated and a beautiful sunset, Day 182, 63.3km (4/24/2009)

Good morning star, I said to the morning star as we began our day today, it looked so bright and beautiful as it sat under the crescent moon that I just felt compelled to speak to it and thank it for guiding us through the darkness before the dawn. The Running Pink team will be separated today, as D’s folks have to drive to Mt Isa to get their car fixed so Glyn, D and I are doing it solo without the support of our moving canteen, that’s what I call D’s folks caravan as there is always some yummy food being cooked up in there. We said our farewells to D’s folks after breakfast and spent the day running through a ever changing landscape. As we left the flat endless grass plains we entered a landscape of small eucalyptus trees and scrub appearing in the grassy plains and then the termite mounds made their appearance, the sentinels of the bush. We kept running and as we got near to Cloncurry the landscape became more dramatic with large rock out crops on the top of small mounts. As the sun was setting we found a gravel pit about 5 k from Cloncurry to set up camp for the night.   Glyn, D and I sat down and watched a beautiful sunset and with the brilliance of nature’s spectacle we all appreciated life and living.  I was pleased that even without our canteen a beautiful dinner of pasta, salad and steak was served by Glyn to us all and being quite bushed from today’s run I have decided to sneak off for the night so I don’t get stuck with the dishes. Night all.

Running with you soon
