Very early start and a fall. Day 171, 71.5km (4/13/2009)

Today we headed for Charters Towers and we have to be there by 4 pm as we had a fundraising event on but the problem was we were still about 65 K out. This meant we woke at 3 am and took off running at around 3.30 am under the full moon. Running today would be fairly intense so I thought I’d only stay on the road for a short and look after D until the sun comes up. Just before I retired for the day we came upon “Break your neck Creek”, that’s been said of me you know. People are breaking their necks to get a glimpse of me in my expensive black and white fur coat because now I am worth big VIP bikkies people want to know me. D ran on into Charters Towers and made in good time for her meeting at a local restaurant with the breast cancer group and one of the local councillors. For some reason I wasn’t allowed into the restaurant, so I stayed outside with my donation tin and I did some fund raising. After the event D and I still had to run onto the Charters Towers Tourist Park before we could finish for the day by this time both D and I were very tired as the early start and being “on” for the fundraising event had taking all our energy. Just before the caravan park entrance D fell and bashed her hip onto the ground. I managed to help her limp home but she is suffering. I gave her a lick where she was sore and the crew have gently massaged it but we want know how bad it is until the morning. I hope it will be okay, we have all crawled into bed too tired to even think straight after such a big day.
