Another bird and blue sky day with clouds. Day 167, 60.2km  (4/9/2009)

It was a cool, drizzling, dark start today and the road conditions hadn’t changed, still the single bandaid strip of asphalt. I did feel a little more comforted regarding the road trains as I had managed, with my high frequency dog ears to pick up on some CB radio conversation that the truck drivers were having. They were discussing D and me so I knew that they knew we are out here on the road running for breast cancer. Today was one of those birds and blue sky day, but we had cloud instead, with not much happening but running, running, running. But as I was running along I was startled by a large bird, told you it was a bird day. What was it? D said it was a bustard, about a km down the road we saw another one and then two more. These birds seem to me to be a bit of a cross between a brolga and an emu, what great Australian creatures I am getting to see on this journey. We continued to run on into the afternoon and the road become hilly, long slow hills that stayed with us to the Oasis Roadhouse, where we are spending the night.

Running with you soon
