Personal targets achieved. Day 153, 55.2km  (3/26/2009)

Today we had friends running with us and some big personal running goals were achieved by them. We got up early and at 5.30am greeted Lia and Coral who would be running all day with us and Sam from Anaconda, who was just there for the morning leg. We all ran out until about 7.30 am, when D and I had to leave for a live Radio interview with Pricey on 4T0, this interview is also shown on live television throughout Northern Queensland so I was seen and heard on two different media outlets at the same time, isn’t technology great, it sure helps to get our fundraising message out there. After our interview when we arrived back at our stop, Sam had left to go to work but all the girls started running again. I decided to car it, as there were too many people for the size of the shoulder and I wasn’t really in the mood for girl talk. I spent the rest of the day in the car napping whilst Lia, Carol and D ran on, at the 42.2 km mark Lia achieved her first marathon but still the girls ran on. At 5.12pm and 55.2kilometrers later both Lia and Coral had achieved their first “ultra”, what a huge personal goal and the girls had a celebration beer, and a photo on the side of the road next to our pink ribbon mark that we leave at our finishing GPS stop for the day. To go beyond a marathon is always a special distance and D and I were glad to be there to see two great women achieve this goal, I think D may have convinced Lia to become an ultra runner.  We all went back to the Rollingstone pub for another celebration drink and then we parted to our respective destinations with smiles and hugs from our new friend and a shared experience that will last a lifetime
