The Paparazzi is chasing me and a Zen experience. Day 147, 50.2km  (3/20/2009)

Drizzling rain greeted us this morning as we left Cannonvale, even the rain didn’t damper D’s mood this morning and she was smiling as we managed to add extra to our lost kilometre count yesterday. After a nice breakfast we kept running up the Bruce highway towards Bowen, we had done quite a few k’s when a helicopter flew over, I asked D “What’s that helicopter doing way out here, doesn’t make any sense?”, she looked up from the road did her usual shoulder shrug, put her head back down and kept running.  D tends to get into a little running trance after a few hours on the road and nothing really disturbs her. I kept wondering about this helicopter buzzing over head when the penny dropped, it was the paparazzi after me again! Can’t they leave me alone, there’s just only so much a girl can take and as it is with the drizzling rain I was having such a bad hair day I just didn’t feel like being photographed. I dragged on a poncho and acted like D, my head down, pretending they weren’t there. This technique worked as they left after a few minutes and we continued to run onto afternoon tea. After some bikkies and milk a Praying Mantids payed us a visit, he was lovely elegant little chat and I thought he may enjoy meeting the Apostle birds we met a few weeks ago. I went to suggest this to my new friend but rethought the idea as the Apostle’s birds were way too preachy for this silent meditative soul. After Zening out with Mr Mantids for a while I felt all my troubles with the paparazzi fade away and I hit the road again a little karma. We kept on running until the sun was sinking and the clouds were turning pink where we found a nice big truck stop to pull over to sleep the night. Another day done and I have D safely back to base again.

Running with you soon
