Plover attack and a small detour. Day 144, 55.2km  (3/17/2009)

It was a cloudy morning when we set off and we were not long on the road when two Plovers started dive bombing me. D called duck Maggie it’s a plover attack and I ran for the trees as I knew my natural camouflage (black) would hide me in the shadows and trees weren’t Plovers forte. After hiding for a while the Plovers lost interest and we were able to return to the road, running through cattle country.   All around me was steak on legs as far as my eyes could see which was making me a bit hungry so when we run into Calen the 1st place I headed for was the butcher shop and then I happily minced my way out of town running towards lunch. As the cloud cover had clear the day was quite hot so I spent lunch under my pink caravan with a bowl of water and some VIP liver brownies I even manage a little desert, a lick out of D’s yoghurt container. As D is down with her total kilometres due to her shin splint, being sick in the beginning of our journey and with her dad being sick near Brisbane she has decided to slowly gain back these lost kilometres by taking small detours off our main routes. Due to this decision after lunch we turned off the Bruce highway and headed towards Midge Point, we have camped up for the night on the side of the road about 8 kilometres from Midge Point. We will be running to the point for breakfast tomorrow when I hope to get some of that nice mince we brought back in Calen, will need to work on the sooky eyes.

Running with you soon
