Singing on the radio. Day 139, 56.6km  (3/12/2009)

We headed out this morning in overcast conditions. I will say I like these cyclones but only at a distance as they bring tail winds and overcast skies which are dream conditions for every runner.  As we were running along D’s phone rang and it was the ABC radio, Northern Queensland wanting an interview. D chatted away for a while but finally it was my turn to speak and they invited me to sing on the radio, as I never miss an opportunity to promote my natural talents, I quickly briefed D telling her to start the rhythm going by clapping her hands whilst she hummed the harmonies, I of course would be doing the lead vocals. We had kind of a highway karaoke going as I opened my voice and sang “Who let the dogs out, Woof, woof, woof” the response was fabulous and we received many toots throughout the day and even a couple of people stopping and gave us a donation or two, talk about singing for one’s supper.  After my debut song on radio we run on towards morning tea, where I met a group of Apostle birds, I think there was about a dozen of them, who came over for a chat. Boy could these guys talk you could almost say they were perching! I suspect they were a little interested in the bread we had and there was certainly something fishy about them.  We run on through the day and arrive for the night at the Clairview Caravan Park. The park has quite a lot of colourful bush turkeys as residents, wandering around the camp, singing to themselves, the tunes remind me of country and western music, I do hope they won’t keep me awake all night with their racket.  Better get some shut eye in case they wake me up later.

Running with you soon
