A great greeting. Day 125, 55.6km  (2/26/2009)

We left camp this morning, a nice spot in the backyard of a friendly local and took off towards Childers. I only ran for a short time as D was vastly determined to get to Childers on time as we had a fundraising appointment @ 5.00pm and she wanted to pace herself and as I was feeling a little be sluggish and I didn’t want to hold her back, I sat most of the day out. It was a good day for her to do a faster pace as the temperature has cooled to 29 degrees, we have a tail wind and her leg was feeling okay after yesterday’s physio. Guess what? She made it right on time to the town edge where she was greeted by members of Professional Real Estate, Childers, some of who run into town with D and I. When we got to the local butcher shop, always one of my favourite places to visit, there was another sausage sizzle, my heart soared and I though t it was so kind of these folks who don’t even know me to cook dinner for me when I arrive. Just as I was feeling like a very important dog D told me that the people from Professionals had put on the sausage sizzle as well as a raffle to raise money for our cause.  I’m happy to be raising money for breast cancer but I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t just in my honour, as ones ego can be deflated so easily by little things such as this. D laughed at me and told me to get over myself.  To cheer myself up I put on my best smile and wandered over to some kids who made me feel special with a few pats and they even smuggled me a sausage or 3 which made a huge difference. The Professional team were fantastic and had made a great effort to help us in our fundraising quest. Jack, the Principle of the team also shouted D a beer at the local watering hole, I restricted her to two as she still need to run to the caravan park about 2kms away and it was getting dark so we said our goodbyes and run off.

Running with you soon
