A bee in my bonnet. Day 99, 45.6km  (1/31/2009)

Last night D and the Running Pink team spent dinner with some wonderful people from the Great Lakes area and was told a real life story that really got a bee in my bonnet when D told me. A young woman was diagnosed with breast cancer by a needle biopsy and her doctor without further investigative medical scans, told her that the cancer was probably in her lungs, brain etc and she wasn’t going to live long. As it turned out the young lady had a double mastectomy with no radio or chemo and with further test there wasn’t any secondary cancer. This young woman, with the love of her family and with a positive attitude will get through the cancer and has a great chance of survival. What got me so barked up is the doctor! You humans put a lot of trust in your doctor’s and believe in them when they offer a diagnoses, I know D grab onto the positive attitude of her doctor and it gave her hope to get through her cancer. If a doctor takes away hope the patient is left without hope and I believe a doctor should never take that hope from anyone. Let alone without proper and full knowledge of the situation. Hope, faith, love and attitude are vital when it comes to how women survive, resolve or even loss the fight to breast cancer. Please doctors offer hope not a sentence and please women don’t just sit there a take the first diagnoses for granted get all the facts and always have hope.

Preaching to you soon
