Lights, camera, action. Day 77, 53.4kms  (1/9/2009)

Our morning started cool and early, around 4.45am, D and I watched the beautiful morning light touch the hills as we run towards Bathurst. Around morning tea time Win news caught up with us on the road for an interview and footage for the evening news. Paw (poor) D as her shin splints are still affecting her running action she was trying to run “normally” for the camera I told her that it doesn’t matter how she looks as they were only there to film me any. After the publicity we continued on to arrive at Stocklands Bathurst where we were greeted by the press and the deputy mayor. Whilst being interviewed a security man for the shopping complex came up and asked me to leave. Doesn’t he know who I am?  And what I am trying to achieve for the 13500 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Australia. Luckily before I had to bite him it was all sorted and I was allowed to say for a “paws” in time. We are camped for the night and  I have just watched our news story, I look fabulous, of course and D as usual spoke with passion about the need to raise money to help find a prevention and cure to breast cancer.  I think on this journey my D is driven by a desire I cannot name and every day she is fuelled by the stories and people she meets on the road. Some of these people tell story’s of survival and others of lose but all of them give D and me a determination that with the actions we are taking and the support and encouragement of the Australian community we can make a difference and help stop breast cancer.

Running with you soon.
