Thunder and lightning. Day 55, 43.1km (12/18/2008)

We had an ugly, ugly day today and it was really, really scary. On our journey we have run through rain (I loved it), sleet (thought it was okay), snow (great fun) but today one after another thunder and lightning storm passed through the area we were running in and it was really horrible to be in. Even my D who has run through all types of weather ran for cover of the caravan when a huge bolt of lightning struck the field next to where she was running. I decided after the first storm front that it was far too dangerous for me to be out in that kind of weather so I spent the rest of the day in the safety of the car. With D spending a lot of the day running for cover from the continuous storms our kilometre count for the day saw us about 15 kms short of Bairnsdale. As D was soaked to the bone we decided to mark the road, GPS the stop and drive forward to a caravan park so D could have a long hot shower. I am beginning to wonder when the rain will stop following us and we have spent more days wet then dry. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Running with you soon.
