I´m singing in the rain. Day 42, 37.6km  (12/5/2008)

I’m singing in the rain, (woof, woof) just singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I’m happy again. Just laughing out loud (woof) with paws in the puddles and waggin’ my tail while D’s feeling fragile. “Singing in the rain” was one of Deborah’s favourite movies until today as I spent the day singing the title song (woof, woof) and she spent the day trying to stay dry from the down pour that we were running in. To make matters worse for D she run up Mt Elephant Pass to St Mary’s and down the St Mary’s pass to Scamander so it was a very hilly, wet and winding trip today. When Deborah walked around Australia back in 2003/2004 she was known as the “Rain Genie” as everywhere she went, even in drought infested area, rain would follow, I guess the tradition still lives on. As this is the end of our 6th week on the road the team here at Running pink decided to cheer D up by count the days that we have had sun shine, instead of rain but unfortunately we have actually had more days of rain than sun so we decided not to tell her this fact, so please help us keep it a secret from her.  Personally I love the rain it’s just so much fun being a soggy doggy. D tries to stay philosophically about the whole thing by saying that “The needs of the many (rest of Tasmania), outweigh the needs of the few (D)” when it comes to the rain as Tasmania, like a lot of places in Australia needs the rain. Our friend Kathra did suggest that we could have a new form of fundraising by letting Deborah (the ”Rain Genie”) run through communities effected by drought for a donation. I wouldn’t mind but I think Deborah just wants to stop running through rain for at least 1 week straight, let’s hope that next week might be the week.

Running with you in sunshine soon
