The windy west: Day 21: 40.5km  (11/14/2008)

Deborah and I turned towards the south west today and were met by a very strong head wind. The wind battled with Deborah and me for most of the 8 hours we were on the road which makes for a very difficult day running. The problem with super strong head winds is you spend most of you day going one step forward and another step back and by the end of the day your body aches from the continuous force of the wind pressing against you. It’s not as bad for me as I have four legs and am lower to the ground but poor D she has much more vertical force working against her and she did end the day with a lot of aches and pains across the chest area due to the constant forward push. We are spending the night at a picturesque rain forest road side stop in Heller Gorge and would you believe we have managed to raise over $100 towards our cause in the middle of nowhere. We are constantly surprised by the generosity of people as we continue to run around the country for the NBCF. It’s starting to rain and the weather report predicts highland snow for tomorrow which is in a district not too far from here. Let’s hope that the weather man has it wrong.

Running with you soon
