A wet morning, a new friend and a strong head wind. Day 15: 36.6km  (11/8/2008)

Deborah started the day in the rain, not me I just don’t like getting wet, bikkies and milk and bed is so much more civilized on a Saturday morning then running in the rain. The weather cleared in time for me to meet a new friend at Latrobe, a black and white Jack Russell called Tess and her owner Sally, a Tasmanian author who writes dog detective novels about Jack Russell – the detective with a nose for crime. Sally had been in contact with Deborah prior to the run and I was interested in meeting her and sniffing her out. It was a great meeting and Deborah and I always like to make new friends.  As it was sunny I decided that I would make an appearance on the road and run with Deborah along the beautiful River Road towards Devonport. We arrived at the Devonport Market @ 11.30am where Crew 2 (D’s mum and dad) had been fundraising all morning and I managed to get a sausage from the sausage sizzle at the market, yum, yum. On leaving Devonport we were confronted by a very strong head wind that only got worst as we hit the coast after Don Hill. I thought it was time for me to retire to the back of the car for the day as head winds are just too much effort for a doggie like me. D battled it out and she ended the day at Turners Beach Lion’s caravan park a little a head of schedule and a little worse for wear.  As she is only 6 kms from Ulverstone and doesn’t need to be there till 10am to meet the mayor we are having a little Sunday morning sleep in, so I might be able to read the Sunday papers. We have a jammed packed day tomorrow with two Mayor Meetings, two fundraising stations and a gala fundraising evening so I will end it here for today as I need to go and prepare my speeches.

Running with you soon
