And we are off! Day 1: 22.3km (10/25/2008)

What a day! Up really early to get to the Parliament House Gardens to set the 4WD and caravans in place for the big launch. We had Cheepa from Chickenfeed there, my new best friend, who told me today, he will be dropping in to visit me once a week as we run around Australia; this is very exciting as I now I have something to look forward to, it’s always nice to have friends drop in while we are running. My human will be posting Cheapa’s visit on the website so look out for them, it’s Cheapa on tour with Deborah and I.

The gardens today were painted in a sea of pink as representatives from Breast Cancer Network, Look good- feel good, Tasmanian dragon’s abreast, Kingston Rotary, Breast Screen Tasmania and of course the wonderful women from the National Breast Cancer Foundation were all there to wave us goodbye.
I had lots of posing for the camera as people took out photo and all the news stations were they filming as the Lord Mayor sent us on the way. I will admit that I love all the attention I had today I received lots of pats and cuddles it’s a great life being me.
Deborah had a friend there to as Keona from Anaconda run with her as we started our first steps to our massive journey around Australia to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Keona run with us for about 15kms today and I want to give her a big thank you from me for keeping my human company as it was a very hard day for Deborah because she is running with the flu.
Camping on the side of the road tonight and I have had dinner and now I am dog tired so it’s goodbye from me.
Running with you soon
Maggie ( Director of Greeting)

Petfood for my sponsorship, Anaconda for great gear and the crew bike, Chickenfeed for Cheapa (my new best friend) and their support in selling our wristbands and spreading the word about our run and our goals to raise over $300,000 for the NBCF, Saucony for yet again supplying Deborah with the tools of her trade, the best running shoes and to all our other supports, TCS Hobart, Cripps Nubake, Cooray Mountain Spring Water, Bowhouse, Gunnersen, Domestic, Flash Images, Solar Force, Spirit of Tasmania, Camec, Hume, Tasmania Alkaliods, G & S Chassiss, S & J Plumbing without all your support this journey wouldn’t be possible.

Deborah and I also want to thank our family and friends without their love and support we wouldn’t be making these first steps today.
